| Welcome to the first entry in my little web page Blog! I have never done anything of this sort and not sure how often I will update it but I will try to post thoughts now and then for those who might be interested. As of lately, I have had an adventure trying to obtain my very first passport. I am planning to take a trip to visit, for the first time, my friends David and Silvia Naylor of Barcelona, Spain. David is a fellow artist I became friends with a few years ago. When he and his wife Silvia were expecting their baby, Rita, we all became even closer friends. They extended an invitation for me to visit any time and I have decided now is the time. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to this once in a life time trip! Should have the passport in a few weeks, next will be purchasing my ticket then the waiting begins! As some of you know, I work as a nurse part time, 3 days a week for a VERY BUSY family practice doctor. Its what pays the bills and keeps me in paint. It is so sad to see the medical field in the sad state it is in. I was once staunchly opposed to the possibility of nationalized health care, however I now have had a change of heart. I live within Elkhart County, Indiana. We have the nations highest unemployment rate currently. The trickle down effect it has caused is disheartening. It effects everything. Seeing people go without their medicine because of pride is just sad.... I help when I can, if I can. I think we all should do a part in some way to help others when we are able. Doing anything to help our fellow brother is what we can do... It will take not only a national overhaul of our political structure but an humanistic approach as well. The goodwill of man can do many a thing... I implore each and everyone whom might be reading this to 'Pay it forward' when you can...even if it is as simple as a genuine "How is your day?" followed by a smile.... Doesn't take much to make an impact in someone... Well I will ramble more later.... Oh, here are a couple works in progress I am still playing with below. Images are not all that great but you get and idea....will add them to my gallery page once they are top notch! | PRINTS COMING SOON!!! Have started the process to finally put some things into print. Will be doing this on a small scale at first, see how it goes and progress's from there. Will offer limited framed pieces in local galleries. I hope to offer more prints at the art fairs I will be doing and of course online as well. All works that will be printed are all originals of mine or works I have painted in collaboration with the permission of the original photographer. I am using the services of a friend of mine. We have been working over the past few weeks trying to get the color, clarity and settings just right. The artist grade archival paper has been ordered. They will all be printed with pigmented archival inks and all hand signed and dated. I have ordered size specific presentation mats and protective bags for the prints. I think I will leave the framing up to the individual as that's a matter of personal taste. I am really excited to be finally putting some things into limited print! It's been and eventual goal of mine and it is something I am happy to finally achieved! Well, time to go paint for the rest of day! | Back from Spain... Back to real life... Had such a wonderful time with David and Silvia!!! It is heartwarming to have such dear friends... They are now my family! We all had so much in common it...we traded tips and shared things... David of course sharing his wealth of art knowledge, me sharing new toys(airbrushes) with David, sight seeing and me showing Silvia how to make Dutch Apple Pie! I will most definitely go back to visit. There are things that can only be experienced in Spain, Things such as seafood paella on a BBQ grill and jamon!!! It feels like home there! | Prints available!!!! I finally have linked up with a world wide print on demand site Fine Art America. I have a link to them on my links page. I will be submitting new peices as I create them. When you click the Buy Now buttons under the images in the gallery, it will directly link to their site. It's easier and more cost effective for me to di it this way. I think it is easier for the client as well. You can always still have me print and hand sign rints if you like. Just contact me and I will be happy to do so!
